Born in 1962, Tarık Özçelik graduated from the Industrial Engineering Department of Boğaziçi University. Özçelik studied for a graduate degree and worked as a research associate in the Department of Computer Engineering of Boğaziçi University. After starting to work at the IT Department of Çanakkale Ceramic Factories as a programmer in 1988, Özçelik took a position in the Production Planning Department. Özçelik was the General Manager of Kale Marketing between 1995 and 2001, the Chairperson of the Marketing Group until 2004, and the Chairperson of the Ceramics Group between 2004 and 2013. Özçelik has worked as the Vice Chairperson in charge of Production Systems and Operational Development between 2013 and March 1, 2024. Özçelik speaks fluent English and is married with two children.
